Summary of editorial
The Mayor of Saint-Denis, Gilbert Annette, and the elected youth delegate, Laëtitia Volia-Garnier, inaugurated the Street Work Out / Parkour Park this Saturday afternoon. It is located on the Coeur Vert site, next to the Skate Park.
Many sports demonstrations punctuated the day yesterday, in particular with the intervention of the group New Gravity which has just returned from a tour in Madagascar and of Teddy Nourry, regional champion of street workout.
Born of a strong desire to develop a united and innovative, creative and participatory youth policy, the City of Saint-Denis launched in 2014 a construction site for youth measures in favor of all young Dionysians. That same year, the Krater, the famous Dionysian skate park, was inaugurated after 2 years of collaborative work with associations and young practitioners.
The following year, in partnership with the Big Up 974 festival, the Big Up X-Trem event was born at the family Green Heart and allowed to highlight the new urban sports disciplines in which many Dionysians excel: Parkour and Street Workout.
In 2015, a sequence of participatory work began between parkour associations, street workout practitioners, young volunteers and municipal services. The objective: to create unique equipment dedicated to urban sports based on the expertise of young people and associations.
This is how the project group is working on the design of the facility, wishing to develop an innovative structure, accessible to all, secure and capable of hosting international events. Thinking about the construction site, the installation of structures, the types of apparatus, access for people with reduced mobility, seniors or even children, it is all of these points that have made the object of work in co-construction with the Dionysian youth. In the end, a space of 590m2 dedicated to these practices and meeting international standards. This inauguration comes to close the series of sports equipment of the Coeur Vert Familial.
2022, and currently still one of Reunion's best parks. Still very young and without any wrinkles, it still benefits from recent interventions in order to maintain its viability for practitioners going there.
